Hi, I’m Irina, the founder and baker behind Pie Rogues, Ottawa’s home for handcrafted Russian pies.
I started this bakery to recreate the flavours of my childhood in my new country; but more than that, Pie Rogues is my way of sharing the best that Russian culture has to give - its real, honest, comforting food.
Food is what brings people together, and I want every bite of my pies to tell a story: of home, of tradition, of warmth. Whether you grew up eating Russian pirozhki or are trying them for the first time, I hope you’ll find something to love at Pie Rogues.
The pies
Pie Rogues is a small-batch artisan bakery seriously committed to creating flavours that sooth and excite. We take pride in making beautiful fresh produce shine. We love making food and we love making people happy. And they are usually the happiest when eating something good.
Russian pie tradition is older than Russia itself. There would be pies for every occasion, from treating important guests to feeding people at a wake. Savoury or sweet, of every size and shape imaginable, Russian pies have one thing in common: their deliciously soft and fluffy crust.
